IT'S NOT JUST YOGA...
IT'S MOVEMENT THERAPY TO HELP YOU FEEL STRONGER, MOVE WITH GREATER EASE, AND LESS CHRONIC PAIN.
Hi! I’m Natalie. Thanks for being here. I am passionate about teaching yoga therapy and movement, and always striving to learn more about the body. When I’m not teaching, I love spending time with family and friends, enjoying the outdoors, listening to music, dancing, and cooking.
I originally discovered yoga as a way to maintain my strength and flexibility. I didn’t realize at the time that yoga was a practice of self awareness, and that regular practice would actually improve my general outlook on life, make me calmer, more grateful, more grounded, and allow me to move better.
With almost 20 years of yoga practice and teaching experience, old dance injuries, whiplash from a car accident, a torn AC joint in my shoulder, SI joint problems from pregnancy and beyond, and birthing a beautiful daughter, my practice and teaching philosophy have dramatically changed over the years. I have realized that for true physical stability, one must have strong deep postural muscles, particularly transverse abdominals, deep obliques, pelvic floor, and glutes. It is important to maintain an element of mobility, stability, and strength, not just flexibility.
My experience and training have given me tools to treat chronic injuries and pain, and to develop personalized programs for clients. Not every body is built the same, and my yoga practice and movement cues take this into consideration. I encourage students to be present, to pay close attention to their bodies, and to align the body with precision and comfort in every position. I encourage my students to understand the difference between pain and discomfort, and to move within their own body limitations. When one is focused on precise alignment and movement patterns, the mind cannot wander. This to me, is the essence of yoga.
